Effective Disaster Recovery

SnapBack® Exact is a server-based backup and restore program for Windows servers that features full open file management, remote administration and backup scheduling. It copies an actual byte-by-byte True Image® copy of the server hard drives to tape while the backup is running and files are open and being modified.

SnapBack Exact keeps track of new data writes and saves the original data for later backup to tape. The result is an actual image of the disk drives at the moment the backup began. TapeDisk allows the image tape to be mounted as a read-only hard drive on the server.  Since the tape is an actual image of the drive, the server can access it directly to retrieve files without any add-on applications.

Hard drive replacement requires no formatting, operating system installation, or setup wizards.

One recovery floppy, a backup tape, and a single keystroke can restore a server to full functionality in just a few minutes.

CLIENT

SnapBack Exact utilizes a Windows Client client to control all the servers, and a single common DOS bootable floppy accomplishes disaster recovery.

WINDOWS SERVERS

SnapBack® Exact for Windows Servers is a kernel-mode server-based product that allows real-time backup from connected hard drives to SCSI tape drives.

The backup engine includes Open Transaction Management™, which allows uninterrupted live operation of the Windows Server while the backup is taking place, as well as backup scheduling and integrated tape utilities. SnapBack Exact for Windows Servers permits the mounting and access of backup tapes as though they were read-only disk drives by using individual file retrieval through TapeDisk. All interactions between the SnapBack Exact Server and the user are through the SnapBack Exact Client.

Total system disaster recovery is accomplished via a single, non-system-specific DOS bootable floppy.
